Festival secretary Morteza Atash-Zamzam said the art project is one of the festival activities that will commemorate the 25,000 Bam residents who died in an earthquake in December 2003. The canvas will be stretched around the ancient citadel, which was nearly demolished in the quake.

About 80 films and a number of photos have been submitted for consideration in the festival, the secretary said. Entries will be organized into categories of education, reconstruction, and disaster.

Nongovernmental organizations and others involved in Bam's reconstruction also will be recognized during the festival, Atash-Zamzam said.
