Iran says doors open to Turkish investments

Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, Shams-ed-Din Hoseini, said Monday his government supported the investments of Turkish citizens in Iran and that they would provide all legal assistance on this matter.

Speaking at a meeting of the Turkish-Iranian Business Council in Istanbul, Hoseini said that "we support the investment of Turkish citizens in Iran based on the importance of Turkey in Iran's foreign policy".

Today's meeting in Turkey is a new starting point for bilateral economic relations, Hoseini noted.

The difficulties that arose after the recent financial crisis have made it mandatory for owners of capital to seek secure markets. Accordingly, it is highly crucial to seek opportunities for cooperation between Turkey and Iran, Hoseini stressed.

Pointing out that 80 percent of all public companies in Iran would be sold by 2010, Hoseini said that Turkish businessmen can invest in Iran in any field possible.

The Iranian government will offer all assistance to Turkish businessmen planning to invest in Iran, Hoseini said.

The number of projects realized by Turkish investors in Iran has reached 57 and the total capital of these projects is over one billion USD. This number could be multiplied by several times, Hoseini also said.
