Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier-General Mostafa Najjar said on Wednesday that Iran will hold military exercises within the next month, the official news agency IRNA reported.

New weapons, including Iranian-made Azarakhsh (thunder) fighter planes, would be introduced in the military maneuvers, Najjar told reporters on the sidelines of a Majlis (parliament) session.

The Azarakhsh fighter planes, viewed as one of the most important joint achievements of the defense ministry and the military, "will make test flight and operations in the near future," Najjar was quoted as saying.

Warning against any possible attack on Iran, the defense minister said Iran's army forces "monitor all movements of the enemies and will respond strongly to any attack against Iranian territories."

He, meanwhile, stressed that Iran is "determined to serve the peace, stability and security in Middle East" and boost cooperation with regional states.

Iran has regularly launched large-scale war games since the nuclear issue came in the global spotlight three years ago.

Last November, Iran started a 10-day military maneuvers, dubbed "The Great Prophet 2," during which the Revolutionary Guards also test fired ballistic Shahab-3 missiles with a range of more than 2,000 km.
