Iranian FM to co-chair intergovernmental commission in Moscow
Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki arrives in the Russian capital on Wednesday to heads the Iranian delegation at the session of the Russian-Iranian trade and economic cooperation commission, which will meet on Dec 13-14.

"Both parties are planning to sign a number of agreements and a memorandum on the expansion of cooperation in different fields, including transport, the oil and gas sector, trade and tourism, industry and the banking sector. The talks will also focus on nuclear power engineering," a well-informed diplomatic source told Itar-Tass.

The programme of the visit envisions talks with Russian officials. The Iranian foreign minister will use his trip to Moscow to coordinate positions with Russian colleagues over the settlement of the situation around Tehran's nuclear programme, the source said.

Meanwhile, deputy head of the Rosatom agency for nuclear energy Nikolai Spassky underlined that "the Russian-Iranian intergovernmental commission will not discuss the new UN Security Council resolution on Iran."

"The parties will consider specific projects in bilateral cooperation, which were mapped out during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Tehran in October," Spassky told Tass.

The previous meting of the intergovernmental commission took place in Moscow on Sept 12. Summing up its results, Mottaki said he considered Russia "an attractive country" for Iran's business.

Rosatom chief Sergei Kiriyenko co-chairs the intergovernmental commission for Russia.
