Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has arrived in Algeria on an official two-day visit heading a senior politico-economic delegation.
Ahmadinejad was officially welcomed by his Algerian counterpart Abdelaziz Bouteflika at his arrival.
The Iranian president is expected to hold talks with Bouteflika and other senior Algerian officials on ways to expand bilateral relations particularly in economic fields and discuss the most pressing regional and international developments.
The visit is seen as a "turning point" in Iran-Algeria ties, particularly as it can effect the implementation of agreements already signed between the two countries in various economic areas.
Iranian and Algerian officials have signed 33 economic, political and cultural agreements since they resumed bilateral ties seven years ago.
