Israel to have early-warning system against missiles by 2010

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Sunday his country would have an early-warning system to confront Palestinian missiles being launched from Gaza Strip by 2010.

The new system will protect the Israeli towns, notably Sderot, which are adjacent to Gaza Strip, Olmert told the weekly cabinet meeting.

The system depends on a highly-effective early-warning device that will be provided to thousands of buildings in west Negev to protect them against the missiles.

During its Sunday meeting, the Israeli cabinet set aside USD 98 million for the new system.
