This year, Sarajevo Film Festival will again present the best film achievements from the Region. The opportunity to participate in the Competition Programme - Feature Film is this year given to the film makers from: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Greece, Croatia, Cyprus, Hungary, Macedonia, Malta, Romania, Slovenia, Serbia, Turkey and UNMI Kosovo.

Besides having a unique opportunity to promote their film achievements and the possibility to establish contacts with the most important representatives of film industry from all over the world, film authors from the abovementioned countries will also have the opportunity to win a prestigious award Heart of Sarajevo, which has opened the doors of the film art to its previous laureates. Prominent representatives of the seventh art, who are the members of the Jury, every year further contribute to the reputation of this award.



Sarajevo Film Festival has the great pleasure to announce that this years President of the Jury of the Competition Programme - Feature Film will be one of today's most renowned actors - Jeremy Irons.

This British actor with an outstanding international career and over seventy film roles, is a winner of numerous awards, including Oscar for Best Actor for his role in a film by Claus von Bulow Reversal of Fortune, for which he also won the Golden Globe.

Jeremy Irons was born on 19 September 1948, at the Isle of Wight, England. After graduating from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, he joined the Bristol Old Vic Theatre Company, where he had several significant roles. In 1972, he got his first big chance in a London production of Godspell. The role in this play earned him a status of a prominent actor at the London theatre scene.

Irons had his big screen debut in 1980, with the role in film Nijinsky. This role did not bring him fame, but in the year to follow he was already attracting international attention in a TV adaptation of Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh where he played opposite Sir Laurence Olivier, Sir John Gielgud and Claire Bloom.

Following the success at both coasts of the Atlantic Ocean, he accomplished an outstanding film career which brought him numerous prestigious awards and a status of one of the most important contemporary actors.

His most important roles were in already mentioned Reversal of Fortune, as well as in a film by David Cronenberg Dead Ringers. It is inevitable to mention his acting achievements in films such as Waterland, The Man in the Iron Mask, M. Butterfly, The Mission.
