The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has called for a total boycott of the upcoming so-called assembly by-polls, describing them as a drama, being staged by India to hoodwink the liberation struggle.
A JKLF statement, issued in Srinagar, warned against Indian nefarious designs and called for greater unity among Kashmiris to foil such maneuvers.
The Front appealed to the people of Bhaderwah, Pattan, Sangrama and Rafiabad - the four constituencies where the polls drama is being staged on 24th of this month - to demonstrate to the world that bids to sabotage the liberation struggle would be countered at every front.
The JKLF also warned Kashmiris against hypocrisy of pro-India elements. The party said, these elements, on the one hand, talk of resolving Kashmir issue, and on the other, are at the forefront in sham elections, the sole aim of which is to sabotage the ongoing liberation movement.
On the other hand, four people, including two Central Reserve Police Force personnel, were injured in a grenade blast, at Quaimoh in Kulgam today.
Unidentified gunmen shot dead a local BJP leader and a so-called Municipal Councilor, in Baramulla town. A police Head Constable was killed in an attack in Tral. Two women were injured by troops' firing on Handwara-Baramulla road.
Dozens of people were injured, when police resorted to brute force to disperse a protest demonstration, staged on Residency Road Srinagar, against anti-people policies of the puppet regime.
The APHC, in a statement in Srinagar today, dispelled the impression that turning the Line of Control into a permanent border would resolve Kashmir dispute. It emphasized that troops' pullout from Kashmir would pave the way for a long-lasting solution to the dispute.
A delegation of Kashmir Center, Washington, headed by Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, Executive Director of the Center, met with the Prime Minister, Shaukat Aziz, in New York. It was stressed at the meeting that India should take bold steps to resolve Kashmir dispute.
