The issues related to Afghan refugees residing in Iran will be discussed during the two-day meeting.
A UNHCR official said that the topics of discussion include the conditions of Afghan refugees in Iran, their return to Afghanistan and the plan for registration of Afghan refugees.
Mohammad Nader Farhad pointed out that there are currently a total of three million Afghans living outside Afghanistan, with the majority of them residing in Pakistan and Iran.
The total number of Afghan refugees residing in Iran is 2.5 million, of which 925,000 are legal refugees.
The majority of Afghan refugees aged 18 to 30 have come to Iran in search of job opportunities.
