Sending a message on behalf of Karamanlis, Secretary General of the Greek Foreign Ministry Aristides Agathocles indicated that the idea to establish a Greek-Turkish fire extinguishing team is a noteworthy one.
Noting that Greece has currently applied to be a part of 'Fire 4' group comprised of France, Italy, Spain and Portugal that fights against fires, Agathocles said that after Greece enters this group, Turkey may apply to become a part of the 'Fire 6'.
IZTO's first proposal for a joint team came up three years ago but was left unanswered by Greece until IZTO made another proposal last summer.
