Macedonia vote falls short of standards: Monitors
Macedonia's parliamentary election did not fully meet international standards but a final verdict will depend on a repeat of voting in several ethnic Albanian areas hit by violence, monitors said on Monday.

"Expectations of progress were not realised because of a failure to prevent violent acts in ethnic Albanian areas, and the limited and selective enforcement of laws," monitors from the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) said in a report. Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski won Sunday's vote convincingly, but the victory was marred by violence in ethnic Albanian areas of the country that killed one person.
