Malibu fire destroys 49 homes in USA
The fire was Malibu's most destructive in 15 years, scorching several hundred more acres than the Corral fire a month ago, the Los Angeles Times reported Sunday.

Six firefighters were treated for minor injuries Saturday in what authorities said was a fire started by "human activity," possibly campers, the Times reported.

One of the homes belonged to Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. In a text message to a Times' reporter, the bassist said his home had "burnt to a crisp."

The Malibu fire was 25 percent contained by nightfall and winds were subsiding though the humidity remained below 8 percent, causing concern the fire could spread, the Times reported.
