Muharram processions subjected to brute force

In occupied Kashmir, Muharram processions were subjected to brute forces in various localities of Srinagar today. Several mourners were injured and a number of others taken into custody. 

The processions were heavily lathi-charged and excessively tear-gassed. The biggest gathering of mourners, subjected to brute forces, was in Abiguzar area of Srinagar.

Senior APHC leaders, Maulana Abbas Ansari, Agha Hassan Al-Moosvi and Naeem Ahmad Khan took strong exception to imposition of ban on Muharram processions and use of brute force on mourners. 

The Chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, addressing a big gathering at Alamsahib Eidgah Srinagar, paid rich tributes to martyrs of Karbala. He emphasized that the people of Jammu and Kashmir, treading in the sacred footprints of Hazrat Imam Hussain, offered unique sacrifices for their just cause of right of self-determination. He said, these sacrifices will not be allowed to go waste.

The detained Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples' League Sheikh Abdul Aziz, who was produced in TADA court, Srinagar while talking to his party activists, said the struggle of Kashmiris will soon lead to securing their right to self-determination.

In Karachi, a leader of AJK Chapter of APHC, Syed Abbas Rizvi, addressing a big gathering of mourners at Imam Bargh Gulbahar, while denouncing ban on Muharram procession in occupied Kashmir, pointed out that unparallel sacrifices of Kashmiris has center-staged Kashmir issue at global level .
