Officials from member states of the Organization for Islamic Conference (OIC) met in the Turkish capital, Ankara on Tuesday to review efforts to sign a preferential trade agreement.
Twenty-one member states are participating in the talks to liberalize trade between OIC countries.
"There are only a few more steps to take to have the agreement functional, and in just six months we will have the ground rules of a transparent trade system between Islam countries," said Ulker Guzel, an official from the Turkish undersecretariat for foreign trade.
The agreement would bring about a reduction in customs duty between OIC members.
