Brigadier General Thura Myint Maung issued the warning on Sunday before the pilgrims left for Saudi Arabia, state-run The New Light of Myanmar reported.
Maung forbids the pilgrims from participating in "political and economic affairs violating the existing laws, bylaws and rules and regulations" of Myanmar.
Maung said the Burmese Muslims "are to give priority to religious affairs only."
