North Korea's Premier Kim Yong-il told visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Sunday the North was open to bilateral and multilateral talks on its nuclear activities.

Chinese state television reported that Kim, who is not related North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong-il, made the remarks at a meeting on Sunday after Wen arrived in Pyongyang.

North Korea was committed to the denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula, and was "willing to seek to realise this goal through bilateral and multilateral talks," the report quoted Kim Yong-il as saying.
