The ruling Labor Party in Norway began contacting political and party leaderships in the North European countries (Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland) to strengthen Norway's military cooperation with those countries and try to build a new security and defensive strategy that may reduce Norway's close ties with the North Atlantic Treaty (NATO).
The leadership of the Labor Party, said in a statement issued today that the switching strategy has been followed by other variables that may eventually lead to the withdrawal of Norway from NATO, although it is one of its founders.
The statement emphasized that the new strategy will not reduce Norway's contribution to international diplomatic activity or limit the openness and cooperation with the Third World countries.
