The 2nd Consultative Meeting of Red Crescent & Red Cross Associations of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) member-states organized by the Islamic Committee of International Crescent (ICIC) and Turkish Red Crescent Society ended in Istanbul on Saturday.
Speaking at the closing session of the meeting, Tekin Kucukali, chairperson of Turkish Red Crescent, said they felt deep sorrow over indifferent attitude of the world public opinion towards human problems in OIC geography covering Africa, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, Middle East, Europe and Caucasus.
"We consider that measures must be taken urgently to prevent violation of human rights in several countries such as Iraq, Palestine, Sudan and Lebanon," he said.
Turkish Red Crescent was ready to exert every kind of efforts to secure lasting peace, Kucukali stated.
Istanbul Declaration was signed at the end of the meeting.
The declaration said great efforts would be exerted to boost peace in the world. ICIC would work to raise human values and prevent wars, it said.
More than 100 representatives from 57 countries participated in the meeting of Red Crescent & Red Cross Associations of OIC member-states in Istanbul.
