Ottoman Calligraphy Collection to be on display in Spain

The Ottoman Calligraphy Collection will be on display in Spanish capital of Madrid for three months.

The collection includes 96 artifacts dating between 15th and 20th century.

The Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando will host the exhibition to be sponsored by the Spanish Ministry of Culture and Sabanci Holding.

On the other hand, Turkey's Embassy in Madrid and the Spanish Culture Ministry will organize a series of activities named "Turkish Views" (Miradas Turcas) within the scope of the exhibition.

Seminars and concerts will take place and films will be shown during the event between December 10th and 19th.

The "Ottoman Calligraphy Collection" -- formed by deceased Turkish businessman Sakip Sabanci -- was earlier exhibited in Moscow, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Paris, Berlin and Frankfurt.

The collection consists of manuscript Korans, inscriptions, imperial edicts and certificates.
