The ambassadress of Norway to Turkey forecast on Thursday that the number of Norwegian tourists visiting Turkey would be over 200,000.

Cecilie Landsverk, the Norwegian Ambassadress in Ankara, said that her country predicted that the number of Norwegians visiting Turkey would exceed 200,000 by the end of 2008.

Turkey had become a very popular tourist destination for the Norwegians, Landsverk told AA correspondent.

Landsverk said that Norway's population was around 4.7 million and said that the number of Norwegian people visiting Turkey was fairly high when the population was taken into consideration.

The ambassadress also said that the number of Norwegian citizens buying houses in Turkey's Mediterranean coast was also on the rise, and told the AA that the Norwegians were preferring Alanya town of the Mediterranean province of Antalya for vacation.

Around 5,000 Norwegians had purchased houses in Alanya so far, Landsverk said.

Landsverk also said that the "Sjomannskirken Church", which would bring the Norwegians together for worship, would be inaugurated in Alanya on September 6th.
