Pakistan friends meeting begins in Turkey's Istanbul

The two-day meeting of the Friends of Democratic Pakistan (FoDP) begin at Ciragan Palace in Istanbul, Turkey on Monday.
U.S. Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke and Sweden's Foreign Minister Carl Bildt arrived in Turkey to attend the meeting.
Representatives from 20 countries and 6 international organizations are participating in the meeting in Istanbul.
FoDP is a comprehensive process aiming at finding solutions to the problems of Pakistan.
The Istanbul meeting aims to provide assistance to the Pakistani government in the fields of education, health, energy, economy and local administration.
A pilot project aiming to seek assistance for reconstruction and rehabilitation of displaced people in the Malakand division as well as prospect of public and private sector cooperation will be discussed at the meeting.
Pakistan, Australia, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Britain, USA, the European Commission, European Union, United Nations, Asian Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank and World Bank are in the group of FoDP.
