A government spokesman says Pakistan has summoned Afghanistan's ambassador to protest President Hamid Karzai's threat to send Afghan troops to attack Taliban leaders inside Pakistan.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammed Sadiq says a strong protest was lodged Monday with Afghan Ambassador Anwar Anwarzai at the Foreign Ministry in Islamabad.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai threatened on Sunday to send troops into neighbouring Pakistan to kill Taliban fighters if they continued cross-border attacks into Afghanistan.
Analysts say Afghanistan is unlikely to do so, but Karzai's comments mark a new low in bilateral relations after US pressure.
