The General Labour Confederation (CGT) said members were disappointed by the progress of negotiations that were launched at the end of a crippling 10 day national rail strike last month.
It said the strike call for Wednesday December 12 could be rescinded if there are new proposals from management and government.
Five rail unions are also considering calling a nationwide strike on Wednesday in order to influence the negotiations, a spokesman for the French Democratic Labour Confederation (CFDT) said.
