The Philippines has ended peace talks with the country's largest Muslim group, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), the president's spokesman said on Wednesday, ending an 11-year peace process.
Manila has dissolved its negotiating panel and will shift its peace policy towards wider and more direct "dialogues" with local communities in the south, said Jesus Dureza, also a former peace adviser.
The Supreme Court stopped the signing of an agreement expanding an existing six-province autonomous region in Muslim Mindanao.
But the MILF said the government should honour the deal, which was a product of more than four years of negotiations.
