Russia not to do joint military exercises with NATO

Russia plans to halt visits by senior NATO officials and joint military exercises with the alliance, Moscow's envoy to NATO announced on Tuesday.

Russia not to do joint military exercises with NATO
"There will be no joint military exercises," Dmitry Rogozin told a Moscow press conference, adding that an upcoming visit to Moscow by NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer would also be postponed.

Rogozin also said it would be expedient to halt all peacekeeping co-operation with NATO "for at least six months" but he said Russia would continue to co-operate with alliance operations in Afghanistan for now.

NATO countries currently operate an air resupply route across Russian air space. The level of cooperation would be kept "under review", Rogozin said.
