Bosnian Presidency Chairman Haris Slajdzic underlined importance of Turkey for Bosnia-Herzegovina, on Thursday, adding that, "I am telling the Europeans that Turkey is the bridge of Bosnia opening to markets in Asia. Turkey is important for the European Union. EU will lose much if it fails to take advantage of this bridge."

Slajdzic said Bosnia-Herzegovina considered Turkey a "real friend", and urged trade between the two parties to be improved. "Bosnia is willing to see more Turkish investors in the country. Double taxation problem has been solved," he added.

Addressing Turkey-Bosnia & Herzegovina Business Council meeting in Istanbul organized by Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK), Slajdzic said his country was the model of globalization which brings people together.

Haris Slajdzic said that Bosnia-Herzegovina had to struggle to be a multi-national state, noting some ideologies retarded this.

Commenting on situation in the Caucasus, Slajdzic said extreme efforts should be exerted to normalize the situation.

An agreement was signed between Turkey and Bosnia to prevent double taxation, and Bosnian Presidency Council approved the agreement on July 28th, 2008.
