Spanish media reported Thursday about further evidence of police abuse of detainees in Barcelona, the country's second-largest city.

In a second tape showing a case of detainee abuse made public, a female police officer can be seen slapping a handcuffed 23-year-old Russian detainee, grabbing her by the throat and throwing her to the ground.

The tape was made by a hidden camera installed at the central police station by the regional authorities to investigate reports of ill-treatment.

The detainee also supplied her own piece of evidence, a home-made video showing her body full of bruises. She claimed that two other police officers beat her up in a cell after the sequence seen on the tape.

The events occurred in early April. The police officer who used violence against the girl has been suspended from duty.

Earlier, four male police officers working at the same police station were suspended after a tape showed them beating a detainee.

Catalan regional Interior Minister Joan Saura pledged to be severe with any violation of detainees' rights.

Video cameras will be installed at all Catalan police stations, Saura announced Thursday.
