A suicide attack on a gathering of anti-Qaeda tribal leaders killed five chiefs in the region of Al-Taji north of the Iraqi capital on Sunday, police said.
The attacker, driving a pickup truck, set it off close to a building housing offices for the Sunni "council of awakening of Al-Taji tribes," where chiefs of tribes opposing Al-Qaeda were holding a meeting.
The explosion killed five chiefs, wounded 15 people and inflicted heavy damage.
An identical attack on a meeting of tribal chiefs in Baghdad on June 25 killed seven chiefs and wounded more than 20 others.
In Baghdad, a motorcycle parked on side of a road in the center of the city blew up killing two civilians and wounding 15 others, police reported.
Nearby stores were damaged and the police cordoned off the scene.
