Thai ruling party plans PM parliamentary vote Friday
Thailand's ruling People Power Party (PPP) will seek to re-elect party leader Samak Sundaravej as prime minister in parliament on Friday, a party spokesman said on Tuesday.

"My understanding is that will be on Friday," PPP spokesman Kudeb Saikrachang told Reuters after a court ordered Samak to quit after finding him guilty of violating the constitution by hosting TV cooking shows while in office.

Party will renominate Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej as premier after a court disqualified him for hosting TV cooking shows while in office, a top party official said on Tuesday.

"I insist that our party leader will be the prime minister," Wittaya Buranasiri, chief whip of the six-party coalition led by the PPP, told reporters.
