Turk airline's passengers up in five months

Turkey's national airline company carried more passengers in the first five months of 2008 over the same period of 2007, a company statement said on Thursday.

Turkish Airlines (THY) sent a statement to Turkey's Istanbul Stock Exchange (IMKB) in which it said that the number of its passengers was up 15.6 percent between January and May 2008 when compared with the same period of 2007.

The company carried 8.2 million passengers in January-May 2008 period. This number was only 7.2 million in the same period of 2007.

Also, the number of international business class passengers of THY was up 26.2 percent and the rise in the number of transit passengers was 53.1 percent in the mentioned period.
