Turkish mobile phone operator Turkcell won International Public Relation Association's (IPRA) 2008 Golden World Award in financial services and investor relations category.
IPRA awarded Turkcell for translating performance into value.
Turkcell executive officer for corporate relations and communication Koray Ozturkler received the award at a ceremony held in London on Wednesday.
Ozturkler said Turkell was the only Turkish company ever to get traded at stock exchanges of both Istanbul and New York since July 2000. He said Turkcell increased its company value by 85 percent to 28 billion YTL last year, which made it the most valuable Turkish company. (1 USD = 1.25 YTL)
More than 400 companies from 52 countries were nominated for IPRA Golden World Awards in different categories.
