Turkey, Bulgaria sign cooperation protocol
Bulgaria's Defence Ministry and the Turkish General Staff signed a protocol on reciprocal personnel training at the military academies and armed service schools and in language courses, the Ministry said.

This is the third document regulating military training cooperation between the countries, the statement says. In 1992 the two countries' governments signed an Agreement on Cooperation in Service Training.

Defence Ministry Personnel Policy Director Velin Argatski, who signed the protocol for Bulgaria, stressed the two countries' endeavour to achieve long-term cooperation in service training. Seventy Bulgarian servicemen have been trained in Turkey so far, Argantski said.

Turkey's Military Attache in Bulgaria, Colonel Mustafa Uzun, who signed the protocol for Turkey, said that the exchange of military personnel greatly helps promote the peaceful environment in the region.
