Turkey has become the fifth among top ten countries that belong to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, or OECD, in a privatization ranking.
In the list of "Privatization Top-10: OECD Countries from 2000 to 2007" prepared considering largest absolute amounts, Turkey came the fifth after France, Italy, Germany and Japan, with 25 billion USD of privatization transactions.
The ranking was published in an OECD report, "Privatisation in the 21st century: Recent Experiences of the OECD Countries-Report on Good Practises", which assessed successful privatization policies.
Turkey has also become the eighth in the list of largest ten individual privatisation transactions in the OECD area 2000-2007 with privatization of Turk Telekom.
55 percent shares of Turk Telekom was sold to Oger Telekom for 6.6 billion USD in 2005.
