Turkey, Iraq to establish cooperation on agriculture sector

Turkish and Iraqi officials have decided to cooperate on issues such as the activation of Iraq's agricultural infrastructure, transfer of agricultural technology and R&D activities in the agriculture sector.
During the first ministerial meeting of Turkey-Iraq High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council held in Ankara on Friday, ministers of the two countries decided to establish cooperation in agriculture sector, said a statement from the Turkish Agriculture and Rural Affairs Ministry on Friday.
Within the framework of this cooperation, Turkey and Iraq would bring together a group of experts in order to develop a master plan and implementation programs on several issues related to agriculture, the statement said.
During today's meeting, officials also underscored the importance of finding regional solutions to global problems such as climate change, drought, temperature rise and water shortage, which are currently more effective in the region where Turkey and Iraq are located, the statement added.
