Turkey, Kazakhstan sign deals on tourism, technology, environment

Turkish state minister met Kazakhstan's tourism & sports minister in Turkish capital of Ankara on Thursday.

Turkish State Minister Faruk Celik said trade volume between Turkey and Kazakhstan reached 3 billion U.S. dollars at the end of 2008 in his meeting with Kazakh Tourism & Sports Minister Temirkhan Minaydarovic Dosmukhambetov.

Celik said Turkey and Kazakhstan signed new agreements in the areas of tourism, science & technology as well as environment and forestry.

More than 200,000 Kazakh tourists visited Turkey annually and this contributed to relations between the two countries, he said.

Kazakh Minister Dosmukhambetov said Turkish companies took part in several successful projects especially in the construction sector in Kazakhstan.

Dosmukhambetov said they aimed to rise trade figure between the two countries to 5 billion U.S. dollars.
