Turkey says govt has no intention to issue amnesty

The Turkish deputy prime minister said late on Wednesday that the government did not think of issuing amnesty.

Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister and State Minister Cemil Cicek said that the government was not working on an amnesty.

"The trauma it may cause in the society should be estimated well, and we should also pay attention to the problems it may cause for the security forces and the uneasiness it may cause for the families of martyrs," Cicek said in a Turkish TV broadcast.

Cicek said that the PKK got the highest support from foreign countries, and international cooperation was necessary to eradicate it.

"We are almost the only country that makes the most sincere and determined cooperation in countering terrorism," Cicek also said.
