Turkey says saddened by no Kosovo participation in SEECP

Turkish state minister said on Thursday that the European Union was important to Turkey, and vice versa.

State Minister & Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis attended the South Eastern Europe Cooperation Process (SEECP) Ministerial Meeting in Kishinev, Moldova.

Following the meeting, Bagis told reporters that Turkey attached a great importance to the cooperation among member states of SEECP.

Turkey participated in the SEECP meeting as the 6th largest economy of Europe and one of the most powerful countries of Balkans, he said.

Replying to a question on nonparticipation of Kosovo in the Heads of State and Government Summit of SEECP, Bagis said that Turkish authorities were saddened by its nonparticipation.

"The number of countries which recognized Kosovo has exceeded 60. I believe that other countries will also admit Kosovo sooner or later," Bagis said.
