Turkey sends humanitarian aid to Tajikistan

Turkey has sent humanitarian aid worth 200,000 USD to Tajikistan to meet the emergency needs of this country stemming from severe winter conditions.

According to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), four cargo planes carried the humanitarian aid to Tajik capital of Dushanbe on March 4th, and Turkish authorities handed over the aid to Tajik executives to be distributed to needy people.

Turkey has made 10 million USD of development and infrastructural assistance to Tajikistan so far. Among these projects are the rehabilitation of an orphanage and establishment of a potable water station.

The last time Turkey extended financial aid to Tajikistan was in December 2007. Turkey contributed 100,000 USD to a project to rehabilitate Tajik Faculty of Medicine which was damaged in a fire.
