Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen, who is currently paying an official visit to the East Turkistan, has proceeded from Urumchi to Kashgar.
Tuzmen and Turkish businessmen visited shrines of Mahmud al-Kashgari and Yusuf Khass Hajib in the historical town.
Tuzmen said that Turkish marble exporters would undertake restoration of the shrines.
Akbar Gupur, governor of Kashgar, accompanied the Turkish delegation during the visit.
Mahmoud Al-Kashgari and Yusuf Khass Hajib
Mahmud al-Kashgari was an early linguist of Turkic languages. He was a renowned scholar and lexicographer of Turkic dialects. He studied Turkic dialects and wrote the first comprehensive dictionary of Turkic languages, the Diwan ul Lughat al-Turk (Collection of Turkic Words) in 1072.

Yusuf Khass Hajib was a 11th century Uyghur scribe. He wrote Kutadgu Bilig (The Wisdom of Royal Glory). He was about 50 years old when he completed the book. After presenting the completed work to the prince of Kashgar, he was awarded the title "Khass Hajib", an honorific similar to "chancellor".
