Turkey's Gul issues warning against misunderstandings with Azerbaijan

Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Wednesday no one should act in a way to cause misunderstanding and hurt the brotherhood between Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Speaking to reporters following a joint press conference with Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev in Ankara, Gul said that serious efforts were being made to bring peace and tranquility to Turkey and end terrorism, referring PKK issue.

Those willing to make use of the current laws have been invited to Turkey. It is not possible to live on the mountains forever. It is impossible to reduce the Turkish government to submission by weapons and terror, Anadolu news agency reported, Gul stressed.

Touching on Turkey's relations with Azerbaijan, President Gul said that "we are a single nation".

We openly state this fact at every platform. We have always displayed our solidarity with Azerbaijan in every occasion. As we go through this difficult period, certain emotional misunderstandings could take place, Gul also said.

Azerbaijan, which have been uneasy about the recent rapprochement between Turkey and Armenia, hauled down Turkish flag at Martyrdom Mosque in the Azerbaijani martyrdom.

The tension between Azerbaijan and Turkey, which started when FIFA not allowed Azeri flags in Turkey-Armenia football match played in Bursa, has been turned into a "flag crisis".
