Turkey's Gul says Cairo speech shows Obama 'constructive'

Turkish President Abdullah Gul said that remarks made by U.S. President Barack Obama at the Cairo University in Egypt proved that he was a constructive leader with whom Islam countries could set up partnership relations to ensure peace and stability in the region.

President Gul described President Obama's speech as "sincere, honest and realistic".

"I think that the messages given by President Obama were quite clear. He sincerely shared feelings and thoughts of people in the Islam countries and expressed them. This is very hopeful. Also, consistency of his today's remarks with his statements during pre-election campaigns revealed his coherence," he added.

Earlier in the day, President Obama addressed the Muslim countries at the Cairo University in an effort to restore relations with the Islam world.
