Turkey's IHH conducted a series of activities in Sudan's Darfur for Ramadan campaing activities.
Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) said, in a statement, it opened mosques, digged waterwells, distributed Qur'ans, organized iftars, aiding orphans and refugees in Darfur.
IHH volunteers also have been making cataract surgeries for 3 years in the capital of Sudan, Khartoum.
IHH said it opened a mosque and water wells, funded by volunteers of the foundation's Izmit branch ( Izmit is a city in northwestern Turkey) in South Darfur's Nyala as part of of the activities in "Ramadan 2009".
Another mosque "Abdulgani Aksus", funded by a philanthropist from Istanbul, was opened by IHH, the foundation said. 280 orphans got also statiornary and clothing aid.
Darfur State Governor, Head of Darfur Parliament, Darfur Mayor and many other ministers from Darfur joined the opening of Abdulgani Aksus mosque. Authorities in Darfur thanked Turkish people for their aids.
In their speeches, authorities stated that these aids built a bridge between Darfur and Turkey. They also added that they would not forget Turkey who maintains the Otoman heritance just as they never forgot Ottomans.
The spokesperson of IHH Vahdettin Kaygan talked about the charity works which they did in Turkey and all around the world. He said they would keep competing for the good and charity.
IHH authorities conveyed the aids coming from Turkey to the refugees. 1000 food packages were distributed and an iftar was held for refugees.
2500 Qur'ans were distributed to the students of the schools that make Qur'an education to help meet the need.
A group of concerned people individually formed IHH in response to attempt to ethnic cleansing of Serbs in Bosnia, largest genocide committed after the World War II.
Since then, IHH volunteers keeps aid missions throughout the world.
