Turkish charitables reached out to countries where the Muslim minorities live in Ramadan as well.

Turkish IHH, Humanitarian Relief Foundation, said in a statement, distiruted aid to needy families and orphans in Srilanka that 1.5 million Muslims lived.



IHH said "its teams distributed 3 thousand 765 food packages to victims of conflict and earthquake in the cities of Betticaloa, Trincomalee, Colombo, Puttalam and Nuwara Eliya. 70 orphans at the orphanage in Gampola Darii'I-Hasenat were given the festive dress for the Eid. Financial aid was made to the Day Care Center that 40 disabled children studying in the city of Vahaneri."



"Total of 20 thousand people have benefited from the foundation's relief efforts," the aid group said.

The IHH team also carried out discussions about the possible projects with Sri lankan organizations after Ramadan. Reports have been prepared about the projects was needed by Muslims. Sri lankan Muslims have expressed that they are expecting support from charitable people of Turkey during the Feast of Sacrifice.



Sri Lanka is an island country in Indian Ocean, South Asia which 7 percent of its population is Muslim.

Because of the conflict between government and the Tamil guerrillas, hundreds of thousands of civilians were forced to leave the island. A large part of them are located in the refugee camps in southern India.

Muslims were often stranded between Tamil guerrillas and the government troops in conflicts in the country and suffered atacks from time to time. After the "Black Thursday massacre" that 150 Muslims were massacred in 1992, nearly 500 thousand Muslims became refugees.
