Union of Chambers & Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) has met with a number U.S. officials on a recent visit to Washington D.C., a senior TOBB member said Thursday.
The TOBB delegation headed by chairman Rifat Hisarciklioglu met on September 15-17 with U.S. officials from the White House, State Department, the Congress, IMF, the World Bank and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), said Sadan Eren, an executive board member of the TOBB.
Eren said their meetings with U.S. officials all agreed that economic and trade relations between Turkey and the U.S. were far from satisfying and called for an increase in Turkey's share in overall U.S. imports.
Eren said U.S. State Department officials were eager to further improve relations with Turkey on a direct order from the U.S. President Barack Obama.
Eren said their meetings also discussed issues such as developing a model partnership between Turkey and the United States, and improving economic and trade relations.
