Turkish Airlines's target 23 million passengers in 2008

Turkey's state-run air carrier said it targeted to fly over 23 million passengers in 2008.

"We are planning to increase the number of our passengers over 23 million in 2008 and I am sure we will reach that target," said Candan Karlitekin, director of the executive board of Turkish Airlines (THY).

Karlitekin said THY carried 19.7 million passengers in 2007, slightly below a targeted 20 million, adding that the company aimed at diversifying its passenger portfolio.

Karlitekin also stated that THY was planning to fly to destinations such as Aleppo, Sao Paulo, Washington D.C. and Toronto.
