Turkish court arrests suspect of teenage girl murder

A Turkish court arrested the suspected killer of a teenage girl in Istanbul on Thursday.

The suspected killer, identified only with his initials as C.G., was arrested after his interrogation.

Muammer Guler, governor of Turkey's megacity, earlier said "the suspect was handed over to the police by his lawyer."

17-year-old Munevver Karabulut was dumped in a trash container in Istanbul's Etiler district after being decapitated on March 3. Her body inflicted with multiple stab wounds was found stuffed in a suitcase. Her head was found in a guitar case in a separate trash container nearby. Her killing created a nationwide outrage while friends and other people launched one of the largest internet campaigns ever seen in Turkey.
