The Turkish energy minister inaugurated two fairs in Istanbul on Thursday.

Turkey's Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz opened Renewable Energy Sources, Energy Efficiency, Water, Water Treatment, Environment and Fluid Control Technologies Exhibition (RENEX 2009) and Sixth International Marble, Natural Stone Products and Technologies Fair (NATURAL STONE) at Istanbul's CNR Expo.

"If we do not pave the way for green energy, the measures taken against climate change will be insufficient," Yildiz said during the inauguration ceremony.

Also speaking in the ceremony, Swiss Environment, Transport and Energy Minister Moritz Leuenberger said joint projects could be launched on the sidelines of the fair.

Supported by Hannover-Messe Sodeks Fuarcilik, and Deutche Messe AG, RENEX 2009 is held on a 12,000 square meters of area.

Around 300 firms are exhibiting their products and technologies like solar energy; wind energy; geothermal energy systems; heat pumps; bioenergy; water purification, treatment systems and equipment; cogeneration; and environment technologies.

The exhibition will stay open till November 8.

Also, almost 600 companies are participating in the NATURAL STONE exhibition that will stay open till November 8.

A total of 400 different types of stones and marbles will be on display in the exhibition.
