Turkish FM asks Lavrov to boost Azerbaijan, Armenia ties
Turkey's FM Davutoglu briefed the Russian FM Lavrov about the progress recorded in Turkey-Armenia normalization process.
Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu briefed the co-chairman of the Organization for Security & Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group & Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov about the progress recorded in Turkey-Armenia normalization process.
Davutoglu called Lavrov on the phone, and asked him to boost efforts to solve Azerbaijan-Armenia dispute to restore a comprehensive and permanent peace and stability in Caucasus.
Earlier in the day, Davutoglu also called OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairman Bernard Kouchner on the phone, and gave him information about the two protocols which were initialed by Turkey and Armenia on Monday.
A joint statement issued by Turkey, Armenia, and Switzerland on Monday said that Turkey and Armenia agreed to start their internal political consultations on the establishment of diplomatic ties and development of bilateral relations.
The statement said internal political consultations over two protocols, which had been agreed on under Swiss mediation, would be completed within six weeks which would be followed by ratification at Turkish and Armenian parliaments.
