The Turkish Health Ministry announced on Tuesday that swine flu had claimed 11 lives throughout the country.

The ministry released a statement in which it said that a 31-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man died of swine flu, raising the death toll to 11.

In its statement, the ministry called on children below two, people with chronic diseases, the pregnant, and people over 65 to consult a doctor immediately if they suffer from flu symptoms.

The first victim of the swine flu in Turkey was a 28-year-old male hospital janitor in Ankara. He died on October 24.

Swine flu also killed people in Istanbul, southeastern provinces of Diyarbakir and Sanliurfa, and central province of Konya.
