Tuncay Seyranlioglu, an independent MP candidate, lost his life in an armed attack in Istanbul's Eyup neighborhood early on Tuesday.

Tuncay Seyranlioglu, an independent MP candidate, lost his life in an armed attack in Istanbul's Eyup neighborhood early on Tuesday.

42-year-old Seyranlioglu was travelling in his car on Alibeykoy Kemerburgaz highway when assailants opened fire from another car.

Seyranlioglu and his secretary Derya Ucar were wounded in the attack. Seyranlioglu died on the way to hospital, while Ucar was taken under medical care at the Sisli Etfal Training Hospital.

Driver Yakup Aydin and another person in the car --Savas Memis -- were also wounded and hospitalized.

The assailants escaped after the attack.

Tuncay Seyranlioglu had run for the July 22nd elections as an independent candidate from Istanbul's Zone 2.

Owner of Buket Wedding Halls; as well as 'Construction, Press and Publication Limited Company', Seyranlioglu was the concessionaire of the Tamgun newspaper.

He also served as the chairman of the Alibeykoy Sports Club for a while.
